Haug to make court appearance this week

HARTINGTON — Attempted murder suspect Kevin Haug is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday in Cedar County Court.

Haug is now behind bars at the Antelope County Jail.

Cedar County Attorney Edward H. Matney said Cedar County law enforcement, in coordination with the Nebraska State Patrol, formally took Haug, 44, into custody Friday on the allegations of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Burglary, Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony and Possession of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Haug had been hospitalized since the evening of July 2 from injuries sustained in a motorvehicle collision, in which he suffered several broken bones.
