County discusses road, Highway designation

HARTINGTON — Cedar County Commissioners got an update on the road project south of Hartington at their Nov. 13 meeting.

Discussion was also held on paving the county road at the south edge of Hartington. Preliminary dirt work and utility relocation has been completed, Commission Chairman Dave McGregor said. He said paving should be completed between the end of May and Aug. 1, so the road will be ready when the new school year begins next year.

Road Supt., Carla Schmidt discussed with the board a request from Gene Twiford to place a sign designating Highway 20 through Cedar County as the Veteran’s Medal of Honor Highway. There would be no cost to the county.
