Wrestlers compete at Plainview, Clearwater invitationals

The Osmond Tiger wrestling team competed at two meets recently, traveling to Plainview on Saturday, Jan. 26, and competing at Clearwater-Orchard on Friday, Feb. 1.

PLAINVIEW — At the Plainview invitational, the Tigers scored 43 points and finished in 12th place out of the 16 teams competing. Plainview was the team champion, followed by Creighton and Wayne. Osmond was led by Hunter Beacom and Alexis Solorzano, who both finished third in their weight brackets.

“This week, I thought that Hunter Beacom really wrestled well,” praised Coach Larry McKenna. He won three matches, all by pin, and finished in third place in the 106-lb. bracket. Hunter really came out and wrestled aggressive and had his best tournament of the year.

“Alexis Solorzano also won three matches, all by pin, to finish in third place in the 170-lb. bracket. This week, Alexis dropped down to the 170-lb. bracket for the first time and was able to be more physical with some of his opponents.
