Wausmond One-Act wins conference championship Brandi Gansebom

WAUSA — For three months, Osmond students participating in one-act competition have been bussed to Wausa for practices. These practices range from morning to evening, averaging three times per week. Morning practices began at 6:30 a.m.. Evening practices started at 7 p.m.

This is the first year that Wausa and Osmond have combined for oneact competition, with the group known as "Wausmond." Directors Brad and Sheila Hoesing believe joining with Osmond has been a beneficial experience: “We’re going to show everyone what can happen when kids work really hard and commit to something,” they said.

After months of hard work and long practices, Wausmond debuted their first performance at the Swedish One-Act Festival in Wausa on Nov. 9. The group then hosted Pop, Popcorn and a Play on Saturday, Nov. 10, also in Wausa, performing “Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge.” For five dollars, one received a can of pop and a bag of popcorn in addition to watching the play.
