Lady Tigers runner-up at Verdigre, fourth at Wausa

VERDIGRE — The Osmond Lady Tigers competed in the Verdigre Holiday Tournament on Saturday and Monday, Dec. 28 and 30. In their first game, Osmond faced O’Neill St. Mary’s.

Makenzie Johnson led the team in scoring and rebounding with 14 points and eight rebounds. She was followed closely by Macy Aschoff with 10 points and seven rebounds. Macy and Elisa Herrera led in steals with four each. Mary Kahny nailed a three-pointer from NBA range to get the team going in the fourth quarter. The final score was Osmond 42, O’Neill St. Mary’s 38.

“This was a very good team effort and the first game we scored more than 40 points this season,” said Coach Terry Viterna. “It also was the lowest turnovers committed this season. The very young team is starting to see lanes and openings on the floor. Hopefully we can continue to improve.”
