14-and-under team places fourth at state

HASTINGS — On Friday, July 13, the Osmond Lady Tiger 14-andunder softball team traveled to Hastings to compete in the Class D State Softball Tournament. Osmond 11, Highway 91 Cyclones 8 In their first game on Friday, Osmond played the Highway 91 Cyclones at 4:15 p.m.

The Lady Tigers fought hard for two straight hours — eight innings — to come away with an extra inning win with a score of 11 to 8. The Lady Tigers had many hits against the Lady Cyclones. Kiera Moes had two doubles; Elisa Herrera, three singles; Macy Aschoff, two singles and a triple; Grace Gansebom, single; Hayle Krienert, double; Lillie Gansebom, single; Elly Herley, double. The girls were very disciplined at the plate. Moes, Herrera, Bailey Schmit and Herley were each able to draw a walk, and Lillie Gansebom was hit by a pitch.

They were also very active on the base paths. Grace Gansebom stole one base; Moes, Aschoff, Krienert, Emma Kerkman, Lillie Gansebom and Herley each stole two bases, and Herrera had six steals. Schmit took care of the pitching duties for the Lady Tigers, with five strikeouts.
