Osmond students excel at ESU 8 Art Show The 8 addition to the Best of Show watercolor Clear

NELIGH — The ESU 8 High School Art Show was held in Neligh at the Antelope County Fairgrounds. Because of the weather, it began with an earlier set up and judging on Wednesday, April 10. It was open to the public from Thursday, April 11, through Sunday, April 14.

Teri Schacht, art instructor at Niobrara, was the judge for this year’s High School Art Show. She chose a colored pencil drawing by Kylee McLean, a junior from Battle Creek High School, as the Best of Show. Kylee’s art instructor is Stephanie Nelson.

In addition to the Best of Show, Teri Schacht also gave the following Outstanding Merit ribbons: Taylor Bolling, Clearwater (scratchboard); Kylee McLean, Battle Creek (pencil); Gracie Beddow, West Holt (charcoal); Brie Magdefrau, Elkhorn Valley (portrait); Roni Jo Robinette, Verdigre (hand-built clay); Rachel Pavelka, Verdigre (printmaking); Haley Kerkman, Neligh-Oakdale (miscellaneous); Madi Grosserode, Neligh-Oakdale (oil painting); Rachel Pavelka, Verdigre (hand-built clay); Beyonce Gildea, Norfolk Senior High (sculpture); Brandi Gansebom, Osmond (watercolor); Taylor Boling, Clearwater (acrylic); Madi Grosserode, Neligh-Oakdale (miscellaneous).

Other students earning ribbons from Osmond included: Rezi Weiss, Mackenzie Schmidt, Keaton Timmerman, Graysen Schultze, Brandi Gansebom, Shyann Rohloff and Hannah Ferry.

The high schools that participated in this year’s show included Battle Creek, Clearwater, Elgin Public, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Lutheran High Northeast, Neligh-Oakdale, Norfolk Senior High, O’Neill St. Mary’s, Orchard, Osmond, Plainview, Verdigre and West Holt.
