OHS students attend Pierce Honor Band
PIERCE — Five students attended Pierce Honor Band on Saturday, April 7. This included Allison Aschoff, ninth grade clarinet player. This was her second year making it into the honor band. Eighth graders Kaden Polt, trumpet, and Holly Jensen, percussion, and seventh graders Cali Gutz, flute, and Taylor Thompson, trombone, also attended.
It was a fun day that started with rehearsals at 8:30 a.m. The students worked all day with clinicians Tom and John Jaworski. Tom is a retired band director with many awards and a long career of achievements in band teaching. John is his son, who currently works as the band director for Ashland-Greenwood schools. He is also an avid composer for bands and programmed into the 8-9 band performance was his composition, “Eclipse,” which was written in honor of the eclipse that happened last Aug. 21.
