‘Overwhelming’ support shown during Sunday benefit

OSMOND — “Overwhelming.” That’s the word many used to describe the turnout for the Amber Wattier Brown benefit held on Sunday, Nov. 4.

For the first time that anyone can remember, there was a line of people that extended out the front door of the city auditorium.

The line extended up through the entrance, back toward the stage and then up to the front of the auditorium where a meal of pulled pork, hot dogs, cheesy potatoes and bars was served.

Along the north wall were tables full of silent auction items, while items for the live auction were on the auditorium stage.

In addition, baked good were available for purchase. All items were donated toward the cause — to raise money for Amber’s treatment for Multiple Sclerosis.

The number of people who attended, as well as the amount raised during the benefit, was “much more than they ever expected,” said organizers.

One person in attendance commented that the whole town of Osmond must have been in the auditorium; however, there were many people from throughout the state and possibly out of state who also helped make the benefit a success.

Those who organized the benefit included Missy Hoppe, Donna Kahny, Jeni Krienert, Sarah Morfeld and Jenny Wingert.
