Two months later flood cleanup is an ongoing chore

OSMOND — Two months after the devastating flood that caused so much damage to much of the southern part of Osmond, there is still a lot of work to be done. Corn stalks, which floated in from the fields and covered much of the town in a thick layer, will be an ongoing cleanup for a long time.

According to Osmond EMT Captain Missy Hoppe, around 70 homes had minor to major damage, and about five families are still out of their homes. Those with major damage will be working for a while yet, she said. Most of the damage to homes was in basements and replacing drywall and personal items. Several had to have their furnace and hot water heater replaced or repaired.
