Tigers advance to district final, defeat Creek Valley 84-32

HARTINGTON — The Osmond Tigers reached the district final for the second season in a row, and the program’s third appearance in the last four years. Osmond defeated the Wynot Blue Devils and Randolph Cardinals in first- and second-round action of the D2-4 subdistrict.

The postseason victories placed the Tigers at 24-1 and earned them a matchup with Creek Valley (Chappell) to determine who goes to the state tournament and who finishes their season.

“Beginning with our current season, ‘wildcard’ points are no longer used for the two teams with the highest value to make the state tournament and join the 6 district winners,” said Coach Todd Schulze. “Now, there are eight district final games, with the eight winners being the only teams participating in Lincoln.”

In the district final on Monday, Feb. 25, the Tigers defeated Creek Valley 84-32 to make it to the state tournament for the second year in a row. That game, as well as information on state tournament brackets, will be reported in next week’s Republican.
