School budget, tax levy are approved at Monday meeting

OSMOND — The Monday, Sept. 10, school board meeting was preceded by the budget hearing and the tax resolution hearing. Superintendent Dave Hamm reviewed the budget, which calls for a total of $5,922,322. Of this amount, $75,437 is in the Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund (QCPUF) and $269,614 in the special building fund. The general fund levy tax rate is $0.692634 with the QCPUF rate at $0.018577 and the special building fund at $0.003691. Brummels Gives Report

School counselor Jane Brummels gave her report on assessments, Career Technical Education and Student Learning Teams. She reported that two students started internships last week and a few more will be doing job shadows later this semester. A financial aid night, consisting of a webinar presented by EducationQuest, will be held Sept. 13 for juniors and seniors. Brummels advised that Osmond Community Schools will again hold a career fair this year; it is planned for February, she said.
