Report given on status of Willow Creek recreation area

We got bombed atWillow Creek State Recreation Area (SRA), cyclone bombed that is. There were quite a few tense hours as the dam had never been tested to that extreme. The lake was nearly 10 foot overfull, and intense monitoring was frequent and constant for days.

Thanks to the Lower Elkhorn NRD and the Pierce Fire Department, those of us who knew how serious this situation looked, slept when we could. All fears aside, the structure did as it was designed and built, and saved many dollars and potentially lives.

The Willow Creek State Recreation Area did suffer some serious losses. Water covered much of the electrical system and that will take some time to repair.
