Rain doesn’t dampen mood of Summerfest ’19

OSMOND — The morning of Summerfest ‘19, Sunday, June 23, dawned gloomy and gray and literally put a “damper” on the day’s festivities. But despite the wet weather, the community pulled together and, in keeping with this year’s theme — “Osmond Proud, Nebraska Strong” — activities continued. Many features such as the parade and kids’ activities were moved to the downtown area, with inflatables, face painting, snow cones, pick-a-duck and fish pond moved inside the fire hall. Horn T Zoo and the pony rides were held near the city auditorium.

Kicking off the festivities was the pancake feed served by the Osmond Fire Department. At the same time, health checks were provided by theWellness Committee of Osmond General Hospital. A quilt made by Judy Baldwin, mother of Deb Jacobi, was raffled, with the proceeds going to Comfort Care Kits. The winner of the raffle was Kathy Wilke.
