Osmond Tigers bring home state basketball runner-up trophy

BRINGING HOME THE HARDWARE — The Osmond Tiger boys’ basketball team defeated Loomis and Riverside before falling to Johnson-Brock to bring home the runner-up trophy from the state tournament this past weekend. Tiger fans lined the streets as the team returned triumphantly from Lincoln on Sunday, escorted into town by the Osmond Fire Department. A pep rally was held that afternoon in the school gym, where team members, coaches and student managers posed with the plaques and trophies won this season, including the Verdigre Holiday Tournament and Wausa Post-holiday Tournament championship trophies, the district and conference tournament championship plaques, and the state runner-up trophy. Coach Todd Schultze, pictured above at right holding the basketball signed by team members, said regarding his report on the tournament, “It has been an emotional weekend. I would like to collect my thoughts and make sure I thank everyone that deserves to be recognized for their support throughout the season.” His article will be printed in next week’s issue of the Republican.
