Osmond Community Foundation organizes; OVR issues challenge

OSMOND — On Tuesday, Aug. 14, a group of Osmond residents gathered for an inaugural meeting of an Osmond Community Foundation. Greta Leach and Kara Weander-Gaster of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) were on hand to explain the statewide foundation and how affiliation with NCF will benefit the local organization.

Gary Van Meter, who is a member of Osmond Venture Resources (OVR) and who was a founding member of his local foundation, asked the Osmond residents to introduce themselves. He then pointed out that each “brings something unique to the table,” as those present were from many different fields, including farming, banking, medical, real estate, newspaper and other businesses. Having leadership from a wide variety of individuals is what makes a non-profit foundation work, he said.
