Osmond Community Club, HOME Team discuss merger

OSMOND — Interested members of the Osmond Community Club and HOME Team met at Tiger Tavern on Wednesday, Feb. 6, to discuss the future of the organizations. Declining numbers and participation in both organizations necessitated the meeting.

Those in attendance agreed that a combined organization would be beneficial to the community; however, nothing has been decided permanently.

A meeting of both organizations will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. with the intention to vote on merging the organizations.

History of Organizations

The current Community Club has been active since its inception on May 4, 1934. According to a report in the Osmond Republican at that time, the organization was formed more “to assist in the procuring for our people employment on public projects.” This was during the Great Depression, when the Work Progress Administration (WPA) and other programs were in existence.
