Henry Schmit honored with Ambassador of Peace medal Friday Pete Ricketts “ working

NORFOLK — On Friday, Nov. 9, Henry Schmit was among a small group of Korean War veterans honored with Ambassador of Peace medals at a presentation held at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Henry and his family members received an invitation to attend the ceremony from Deb Becker, activity coordinator at the veterans home.

According to information in Becker’s letter:

The medals were created by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in the Republic of Korea to thank American soldiers for their bravery, sacrifice and courage in the Korean War and as peacekeepers afterward. For those who could attend, a special ceremony took place on Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, July 27.
