City Council addresses police protection issues

OSMOND - The Monday, Sept. 10, meeting of the Osmond City Council began with the annual budget hearing. Mayor James Bessmer reviewed budget figures and, with no public comments, the council accepted the budget as presented and adopted Resolution 2018-5, which sets the property tax request for 2018-19 at $290,550; with general fund property taxes at $180,550 and bond fund taxes at $110,000.

Police Protection Questioned

Shelly Kruse addressed the council about her concern for the lack of police protection when Chief Gary Umberger is not here. She expressed the opinion that kids without a license drive four-wheelers and golf carts, people are running stop signs and more serious crimes like drug trafficking and theft of property could happen when the city officer is not in town.
