Chance encounter leads to lasting friendship; cyclists raising funds

OSMOND — A chance encounter a number of years ago led to a lasting friendship between an Englishman and a local family. The friendship brought the man and a couple of his friends from England to Osmond this past weekend.
In 2011, Karla and Jim Rice and one of Osmond’s many foreign exchange students, Nicola Schneider, were at the Osmond Mini Mart when they happened to meet Frank Towers of Preston, Lancashire, England. Frank was riding his bike west across the country from New York to Los Angeles, raising moneyforacommunitygym—the Freckleton Project.
