Blecha left her finger prints on Osmond, and the Osmond Republican

OSMOND — There are few people in this corner of the world who haven’t had their lives touched by Bernice Blecha.

Her volunteer efforts, love of church and community and her work in community journalism over the past half-century have elicited many smiles and words of gratitude over the years.

Her first love was printing — a trait she learned at the elbow of former Republican Publisher Gene Liewer. She walked into the Republican office shortly after graduating from Osmond High School in May 1962, and only begrudgingly left the place last fall when her health just wouldn’t cooperate with her strong will and curious brain.
