‘Christmas Wishes’ program planned for Sunday evening

OSMOND — Sunday marks the 2018 edition of “Osmond Christmas Wishes.” The event will take place at Osmond city auditorium. It is sponsored by Sons of the American Legion Squadron 326.

The evening will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m.Acatered meal will be served by Tiger Tavern staff at 6:30 p.m. An “Osmond video” will be presented by Jeff and Cash Luhr, featuring a tribute to Osmond veterans who died during the past year, and a tribute to Osmond’s Korean War veterans.

The Wounded Warrior Project has been chosen for this year’s recognition by the SAL. Representing the Wounded Warrior Project is Corey Briest of Yankton. Corey was an Army National Guard Sergeant who suffered several injuries from an IED explosion, including a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), lung damage, blindness and a burn across his hips, while on patrol in Iraq in 2005. Corey spent a year in Pomona, CA, for rehabilitation before moving back to Yankton, S.D. According to the SAL, “Corey has represented the Wounded Warrior Project and gained national attention, speaking with Tom Brokaw, Oprah Winfrey and others about what he and others like him go through — the daily hardships and sacrifices they deal with every day.”
