Ronnie R. Leiting

SOUTH SIOUX CITY — Ronnie R. Leiting, 78, South Sioux City, died Nov. 13, 2021.

Funeral services were Nov. 18, at Mohr and Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Visitation was Nov. 17 at the funeral home.

Burial was at St. Michael Cemetery, South Sioux City.

Ronnie was born to Elmer and Dorothy (Griffith) Leiting April 11, 1943, in Lebanon, Penn. He graduated from Randolph High School and attended Sioux City Barber College in 1965. Ronnie married Marilyn Fonder in 1965. They enjoyed many years together until her passing in 2001.

Ronnie has been a local business owner since 1971. He owned and operated The Headhunters barbershop. He was very passionate about his work and the relationships he formed with his clients over the years.

The center of his life was his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to and cheering for his grandchildren at all their sporting events. He was an avid Husker fan. He enjoyed bowling, Keno, and playing pool.

He was a volunteer firefighter for 35 years and a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was also very patriotic and proud to have served his country in the United States Army Reserve.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Siouxland Freedom Park or Trinity Heights Queen of Peace.

Ronnie is survived by his longtime partner, Diane Boyd-Wittrock, South Sioux City; children, Joel Leiting, Sioux City, Iowa, and Brian (Molly) Leiting, South Sioux City; siblings, Mary Leiting Simmons, Council Bluffs; Richard (Linda) Leiting, Louisville, Ky.; and Lynn (Shannon) Leiting, Gretna. He was beloved Papa to Bailee, Alexa, Spencer, Lucas, Trevor, Elle, Kate and Faith; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry companion, Candle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; and brothers, Dennis, Terry, David and Tony.
