Richard Jerome Arens

RANDOLPH — Richard Jerome Arens, 66, Randolph, died Dec. 21, 2017 at Osmond General Hospital, Osmond.

A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m., Dec. 28, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, with Rev. Father Timothy Forget officiating and Con-Celebrant, Rev. Father David Korth and Deacon Doug Tunink.

Inurnment will be in St. Frances Catholic Cemetery, Randolph.

Memorial visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Dec. 27, with Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m., all at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Randolph

Honorary pallbearers will be David Hansen, Jim Kuchta, David Anderson, Cary Kruse, Dennis Bazata, John Arens, Dan Tunink and Doug Nelson.

Richard was born Aug. 4, 1951, at Crofton, to Raymond and Frances (Tramp) Arens. He attended St. Rose Elementary, Crofton, and graduated from Crofton High School in 1970.

Richard worked in construction jobs in the Omaha, Columbus and Norfolk areas for about 10 years after graduating high school. Richard married Yuvonne Thies Aug. 7, 1971, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph. The couple lived in Omaha, then Columbus and Norfolk. They moved to Randolph in 1977. Richard worked as a Housing Inspector for the Department of Housing and Environmental Health until 1985. He began part time employment as a feed sales representative for Moorman Mfg. in 1982, becoming a full time sales rep until 1998, when a stroke resulted in his long term disability.

Rick was a member of St. Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, where he also served on the Parish Council and as C.C.D. instructor. He was a member of Randolph Area Foundation and its Board of Directors; past member of Randolph Park Board; a former mentor for the Randolph TeamMates program; and a member of Randolph Community Club. His hobbies through the years have included bowling, golf, hunting, fishing and attending various high school sporting events. He thoroughly enjoyed helping friends with construction and farming projects. Rick cherished good times with friends and family!!

Surviving Richard are his wife of 46 years, Vonnie Arens, Randolph; his three children, Abigail and Don Ott, Trumbull; Erick and Teresa Arens, Laramie, Wyo.; and Chad Arens, Omaha; three grandchildren, William Arens and Claire Arens, both of Laramie, Wyo.; Davis Ott, Trumbull; three siblings, Allan and Irma Arens, Crofton; Ken and Connie Arens, Crofton; Deb Loyd, Arkansas; three brothers-in-law, Steve and Cheryl Luehrs, West Branson, Mo.; Bill Thies, Randolph; and Marty and Pam Thies, Randolph; one sister-in-law, Theresa and Jim Schnoor, Randolph; and very precious nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Frances (Tramp) Arens, and step mother Norma Jean Arens; sister, DelRae (Arens) Luehrs; nephew, Jeffery Luehrs; niece, Karla Halle;
