Marjorie Magdalina Van Slyke
RANDOLPH — Marjorie Magdalina Van Slyke, 96, Randolph, died Sept. 9, 2018, at Colonial Manor, Randolph. The last chapter of her life has come to a close. Visitation, with a Christian Mothers Rosary and Christian Wake Service, were all at Johnson Funeral Home, Randolph. Funeral Services were Sept. 13 at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, with Rev. Fr. Timothy Forget and Deacon Doug Tunink officiating. Interment was in Saint Jane Frances Catholic Cemetery, Randolph. Pallbearers were Brian Kint, Jon Gubbels, Hank Thieman, Tom Cruthis, Gary Van Ert, Brian McDonald, Tom Klocke, Jeff Van Ert, Don Kramer and Dean Kramer, Majorie was born April 11, 1922, at Randolph, to John and Catherine (Weis) Klocke. She attended country school near Randolph. She helped on the farm, milking cows and picking corn by hand. She enjoyed her childhood with her sister and three brothers. She married John Daniel Kint Feb. 11, 1941. She and her sister, Adeline, had a double wedding at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph. The couple made their home in Laurel, where daughter, Dorothy, was born Dec. 7, 1941. They moved back to Randolph where, Johnnie, worked at the DX station and Marjorie was a mother and housewife. A son, Robert, was born March 25, 1944. Johnnie was called to serve his country in December 1944. He went to Texas for basic training and then on to Germany in January 1945. Marjorie received a telegram that her husband, Johnnie, was killed in the front lines in Germany Feb. 19, 1945. Marjorie and her children continued to make their home in Randolph. Marjorie married Lowell Van Slyke Aug. 3, 1963. The couple made their home in Winside and then Cozad, as Lowell was employed at Kansas/Nebraska Gas Company. Upon retiring they moved back to live in Randolph. Marjorie was a member of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Randolph, and a member of Christian Mothers. She loved playing cards with various groups; regularly attending events at the Randolph Senior Center, and enjoyed her daily walks, a daily routine for her. She entered Colonial Manor, Randolph, in August 2013. Surviving is her daughter, Dorothy and Gary Korver, Clinton, Iowa, and her son, Robert and Sandra Kint, Randolph; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia “Tiny” Burns, Laurel. Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents; her first husband, Johnnie Kint, during battle in WWII; her second husband, Lowell Van Slyke; one grandson; her sister Adeline; three brothers, Lex, Elmer and Verdy, and their spouses; her in-laws, Walter and Tillie Kint; brother-in-law, Warren (Breezie), Jim and Kenny Kint, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Soden, and their spouses; two nephews and one niece.
