Marion Esther Block

BLOOMINGTON, IL— Marion E. Block 84, of Bloomington, IL, died Dec. 25 2018, at Luther Oaks Nursing Home.

Marion was born in Osmond on Feb. 28, 1934, to Emil and Esther Broekemeier. She graduated from Osmond High School in 1951. She married Norman Block in Osmond on Nov. 27, 1955. The couple lived in South Dakota and California before moving to Illinois. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, Marion went on to be a nurse for many years until she retired in 2000. Norman died in 2017.

She leaves to cherish in her loving memory, her two sons, Chris (Traci) Block and Kelly (Julie) Block, both of Illinois; two grandsons, Tristan Block and Tanner Block; three granddaughters, Amanda (Nick) Fogelman. Carrie Shouse and Laura Look; four great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Jim Broekemeier of Osmond, Phyllis Rodgers of California, Byron Broekemeier of Ravenna, Orville Broekemeier of Norfolk, Rosie Jenkins of Georgia, Barb Thies of Creighton and Judy Acklie of Crofton, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Norman Block; both parents; brothers Don, Jerry and Glen and infant sister Georgia.

Arrangements are being taken care of by East Lawn Funeral Home and at this time there is no pending services.
