Kenneth was born Jan. 16, 1927, on the family farm south of Laurel, to Oscar and Hilda (Forsberg) Kardell. He attended country school District #86 in Cedar County. At an early age, Kenny accepted Christ as his Savior; this decision was reflected throughout his life. He worked with his dad farming, custom corn shelling and at the service station in Laurel, now owned by David and Karla Kardell. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953, and in Korea for 14 months. Kenny married Muriel Anderson Sept. 5, 1953, at Trinity Ev. Free Church, Holdrege, and to this union four sons were born, Daniel, Dudley, Derwin and David. Raising four energetic boys provided many memories through the years. The couple farmed for many years near Laurel before moving to a farm north of Dixon. Kenny worked for John Deere, Laurel and Wayne, and farmed and sold Morman’s feed.

He was a faithful member of the Concord Ev. Free Church and served on various boards of the church throughout the years. He enjoyed his church, family, traveling, farming, mechanic work, music by George Beverly Shea and the Palermo Brothers, the church men’s quartet, and especially Muriel’s singing.

Kenny is survived by his sons, Dan (Jeanne Ann) Kardell, Wayne; Dudley (Juli) Kardell, Holdrege; Derwin (Lynette) Kardell, Yutan; and David (Karla) Kardell, Laurel; 10 grandchildren, Dena (Daniel) Lipp, Laurel; Shaun (Jessica), Gretna; Jenessa, Wayne; Marisa (Dusty) Baker, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Austin, Phoenix, Ariz.; Pierce, Holdrege; Joel (Katy), Omaha; Kyle, Lincoln; Kelsey (Lane) Gottula, Norfolk; and Bethany, Laurel; nine great-grandchildren, Vincent, Ada and Theodore Lipp, Selena and Jocko Kardell, Brooks Baker and Colin, Evan and Levi Kardell; brothers, Arnie Kardell, Center Point, Texas, and Paul (Madonna) Kardell, Lincoln; brother-in-law, Tim Boeckenhauer, Hubbard; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
