JoAnn was born in Milford, Mass., July 26, 1956, to Ronald (Jake) Cook and June (Hughes) Cook. She grew up in Franklin, Mass., spending many years working in the fields and far stead at the Cooks’ family farm. She graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, and was a graduate of Penn State University. She was predeceased by her late husband, Richard Travers; her parents,

She was a resident of Denver, Colo.; Cosa Mesa, Calif.; and Hartington.

She moved to Hartington in 2006 to manage a farm with her husband, Richard. In Nebraska, she loved to sit on her porch with her two dogs. She worked at Kruse True Value, Hartington, and volunteered for a statewide outreach program going to low income communities teaching them about nutrition and establishing community gardens. She also volunteered for the 4-H program. She moved to Walpole in 2019.

She had a positive attitude and contagious laugh.

She is survived by her step son, Richard Travers, Walpole, Mass.; her sister, Linda Hildebrand, Eureka, Calif.; her brothers, Ron Cook Jr., Beaufort, N.C.; Jim Cook, Chipley, Fla.; and Christopher Cook Sr., Franklin, Mass.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
