Jeanette Schnoor

PIERCE — Funeral service for Jeanette L. Schnoor, 89, of Pierce were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce, with Rev. Lucas Millar officiating. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Organist was Jean Zautke, and soloist was Orville Broekemeier. Musical selections were “Old Rugged Cross,” “Heaven Is My Home” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Pallbearers were Jason Schnoor, Chad Schnoor, Jared Schnoor, Heath Schnoor, Brandon Schnoor, Lacey Schnoor, Garret Schnoor, Nathan Klatt, Caleb Klatt, Colin Klatt and Rachel Klatt. Honorary pallbearers were her godchildren: Dean Hagelstein Jr., Robert Broekemeier, Misti Halsey, Debbie Wattier and Judy Acklie.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce.

Mrs. Schnoor died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of the arrangements.

The daughter of William and Lillian (Dewey) Broekemeier was born April 8, 1929, in Osmond. She was baptized on April 28, 1929, and confirmed March 29, 1942, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. She attended School District 29 country school through the sixth grade, Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Osmond for grades seven and eight and graduated from Osmond High School in 1946. She also attended Wayne State College for a year and then taught school for five years. She married Darrell Schnoor on June 28, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. The couple farmed south of Randolph for five years and then moved to a farm northeast of Pierce in 1956. She worked at the Pierce Manor for 23½ years as housekeeping supervisor. Jeanette received many awards for her work at the Pierce Manor. Jeanette enjoyed playing cards, reading, fishing, baking and cooking. She has been a resident at Heritage of Bel Air since November 2014. At age 89, she still led an exercise class at Heritage Of Bel Air Nursing Home. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce, the Fellowship Club, Ladies’ Joy Circle and was an Aid Association for Lutherans officer. She also volunteered at Faith Regional Health Services cafeteria and the Pierce Senior Center.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Schnoor of Pierce and Rick (Rose) Schnoor of Pierce; a daughter, Holly and the Rev. Michael Klatt of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five greatgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Harriett Bettencourt of Los Banos, CA, Vivian Hixson of Grand Junction, CO, and Lillian (Dean) Hagelstein of Columbus, and a sister-in-law, Sharon Broekemeier of Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Lillian; her spouse, Darrell; a brother, William G Broekemeier, and a sister, Irene Mieger.
