Herbert Leo Goger

ESCONDIDO, CA — Services for Herbert L. Goger, 89, were held Friday, June 14, 2019, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Escondio, CA.

Mr. Goger died Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Herbert Leo was born on June 27, 1929, in Creighton to Herbert A. and Margaret E. Goger. As a young boy, his family moved to Osmond and owned a Skelly service station. He graduated from Osmond High School with the Class of 1947. He married Janelle Lorenz in the same year. In 1956, Leo and Janelle moved their family to California to work in the aircraft manufacturing industry. They lived in Chula Vista until 1965 when they relocated to Escondido. Shortly after, he purchased a material hauling truck and became an independent trucker. He also became part owner of a sand and material business. When the business was sold, he purchased additional trucks and ran his own business with his sons-in-law, Ray Stoiiho# dqg# Plfkdho# Ohh1# E|# wkh# 1990s, he retired from the trucking operation and spent the next few years at home, tending his garden, wuhhv# dqg# Ûrzhuv1# Kh# dovr# vshqw# much time helping around Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 71 years, Janelle, and granddaughter Vickie Phillips.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Michael), Danny (Sharon), David (Letha), Don, Laurie (Joe), and Lisa (Ray); 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Delores (Dwaine) of Osmond, NE, and Audrey of Idaho, and many extended family members.

He was strong in his faith and uhjxoduo|#dwwhqghg#fkxufk#dqg#Eleoh# study. His contribution to the church grounds are the beautiful red bud trees that show beautiful color every vsulqj1#Eohvvhg#eh#klv#phpru|1
