Glenn “Buster” Wolfe

CLEARWATER — Glenn “Buster” Wolfe, 95, Clearwater, July 5, 2019, at his home.

Visitation was July 8 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home, Clearwater.

Funeral services were July 9 at Concordia Lutheran Church. Clearwater, with Pastor Daniel Feusse officiating.

Burial was in Clearwater Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by Clearwater American Legion Post #267.

Glenn Harold “Buster” Wolfe was born April 4,1924, to Archie “Mike” and Ruth (Jones) Wolfe. He grew up on the family farm with sisters, Norma Jeane and Maedean, and brother, Larry. He attended country school until eighth grade and quit to help on the family farm. In May 1944, Wolfe was drafted into the Army and received basic training at Camp Roberts in California. He shipped out to Italy January 1945, where he served in the 10th Mountain Division. He was injured May 1, by shrapnel from a mortar shell. Wolfe went to Fort Simmons Hospital, Denver, Colo., to recuperate for nine months before returning to the family farm in rural Clearwater. He received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct and Sharp Shooter medals. He married Elsie Lange June 8,1947, at Concordia Lutheran Church. They had eight children, Dale, Gary, Sue, Janet, Mike, Mary, Diane and Cindy. They farmed until 1964, when they moved to Clearwater and went to work at John Deere, setting up machinery. He retired in March 1986.

Buster also enjoyed hunting, reading and crossword puzzles.

Buster was a charter member of Clearwater American Legion Post 267, when it was established in 1948. He was presented with a 70-year continuous membership certificate this past year.

Buster is survived by his wife, Elsie; and children, Gary (Janet) Wolfe, Clearwater; Sue Hochstein, Hartington; Janet Allemang, Clearwater; Mike (Sheila) Wolfe, Norfolk; Mary (Terry) Makelin, Freeman, S.D.; Diane Price (Will Schaller), Norfolk; Cindy (Allen) Spangler, Emmet; and daughter-in-law, Carol Wolfe, Neligh; 33 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, seven great-greatgrandchildren; and sister, Maedean Peters, Norfolk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale; grandson, Patrick; sons-in-law, Jim Hochstein and Roy Price; brother, Larry; sister, Norma Jeane Wilcox; and four brothers and two sisters, in infancy.
