Gabrielle M. Jonas

OMAHA — Gabrielle M. Jonas, 24, Omaha, died March 5, 2022.

Visitation was March 11 at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries, Omaha.

Funeral Mass was March 12 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Omaha.

Gabbie was born June 6, 1997. She attended St. James/Seton School, Marian High School, Drake University and St. Louis University. She would have graduated with her MHA from SLU in May 2022. She was awarded a fellowship at Children’s Hospital and was scheduled to start in July.

For those who knew Gabbie, they knew sports were a huge part of her life. Football, baseball, golf and especially softball were all close to her heart. Usually the loudest person in the room, her family and friends rarely had to wonder what was on her mind. She will be remembered as the fiercest competitor, a loyal and compassionate friend and a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and cousin. All who loved her cherished the time and memories made with her. That is evidenced by the 10000 + photos on her phone. She was unapologetically herself and never one to sugar coat anything as she let everyone know her opinion and how she felt. From arguing with her brothers about which sport was better, softball or baseball, to only discussing college and places to live in Omaha on Sundays at the dinner table. As McLaine said, she was unapologetically herself and we loved her so much.

Gabbie is survived by her parents, Michael and Karen; brothers, McLaine and Spencer; grandparents, John and Wanda Jonas; beloved dog, Sadie; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, David and Mary Salzman; aunt, Gretchen Salzman.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials in Gabbie’s memory to Marian High School in Omaha, Drake University-Softball Program in Des Moine, Iowa, or to the Millard United Softball, Omaha, scholarship in Gabbie’s name.
