David Bruce Yost

FOUR OAKS, N.C. — Funeral Services for David Bruce Yost, 58, Four Oaks, N.C., were held April 4, at Rose & Grahm Funeral Home Chapel, Boston, N.C. The Rev. Kelvin Blackman officiated. Visitation preceded the services.

Burial was in the Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery, Benson,N.C.

Pallbearers were Curtis Matthews, Jimmy Matthews, Michael Yost, Robert Yost, Larry Allen and Jimmy Smith.

David died March 28, 2018, at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab Center, Smithfield, N.C.

The son of Robert Bruce and Elizabeth (Lauersen) Yost, David was born March 29, 1959. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church May 10, 1959.  David and his parents moved to Coleridge in December 1959. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1974. He graduated from Coleridge Community Schools in 1977 and from Northeast Technical College, Norfolk, in 1979. David married Deborah Ann Matthews July 13, 1991, at Town and Country Christian Church, Norfolk. They moved to Angier, N.C., in April 1994. They became members of the Baptist Church of Four Oaks. David was a dairy manager at Lou’s Thrift Way, Norfolk, and later, a dairy and frozen food manager at Lowe’s Food Stores, Benson and Irwin, N.C., until failing health. He was a dialysis patient for 18 years.

He enjoyed his scouting years, and camping and boating with his family. He also enjoyed fishing and biking and was a football and baseball fan.

David is survived by his wife, Deborah, Four Oaks; his parents; brother, Michael Yost, Dawson, Ga.; sister, Shari (Todd) Maurer, Columbus; nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Fran, Charlotte, N.C.; and brothers-in-law, Curtis, Johnny (Judy), and Jimmy (Teresa) Matthews, all of North Carolina.

Preceding him in death were his parents-in-law, David Boyd and Mary (Tart) Matthews Sr.;  two brothers-in-law, David Jr. and Doug Matthews; and one sister-in-law, Faye.
