Byron "Broek" Broekemeier

Services for Byron “Broek” Bruce Broekemeier, 83, of Ravenna will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard, NE. Pastor Dean Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sweetwater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is assisting the family.

Mr. Broekemeier died March 23, 2019, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital.

Byron was born on Sept. 24, 1935, in Osmond to Emil and Esther (Dewey) Broekemeier.  He graduated from Osmond High School in 1953, and business college in Omaha, then spent six years in the Army before being discharged in 1964.  Byron married Dorothy Goree in 1960 and had three daughters and one son.  He married Mardell Fox in 1979 and gained two daughters.  Byron had a long career with Case International and Fairbanks International, and was very involved in Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard.  

Byron is survived by daughters Deb Rouse and Kerri Stoetzel of Omaha and Cindy and spouse Al Monaco of Waterloo; son and spouse Karl and Kim Broekemeier of Wellington, MO; stepdaughter and spouse Cindy and DuWayne Johnson of Lincoln; step son-inlaw Mike Gillming of Litchfield; brothers Jim Broekemeier of Osmond and Orville Broekemeier of Norfolk; sisters Phyllis Rodgers of San Diego, Barb Theis of Creighton, Rosie Jenkins of Gadsden, AL, and Judy Acklie of Crofton; several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Esther Broekemeier; wife Mardell Broekemeier; brothers Gerry Broekemeier, Glenn Broekemeier and Don Broekemeier; sister Marion Block and stepdaughter Graci Gillming.

Memorials are suggested to the Ravenna Senior Center and Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard.
