Ben Sauser

PLAINVIEW — Services for Benjamin Thomas Sauser, age three, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at St. Ludger’s Catholic Church in Creighton. Ben was buried in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, also at St. Ludger’s. Ben died peacefully in his parents’ arms on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Children’s Hospital in Omaha. Ben was born on April 15, 2014, in Omaha to parents Tom and Jessica Sauser of Plainview. He was born with a heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and, as a result of his illness, received a heart transplant on June 7, 2015. Though he spent one third of his life at Children’s Hospital, he was a happy boy with an infectious smile who loved the farm, anything with wheels, and chips. Ben is survived by his parents; soon-to-arrive baby sister; his grandparents, Daryl and Jackie Hitz and Mike and Julie Sauser; his greatgrandparents, Janie Johnson and Carol Helsing; aunts and uncles Justin and Kasi Foss, Vanessa Hitz, Dalson Hitz, Dillan and Michelle Zuhlke and Emma Sauser, and cousins Dan, Joe and Abby Zuhlke. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Herbert and Garnet Hitz, Harlan Johnson, Leonard and Thelma Sauser and Merlin Helsing.
