LCC girls earn a split to open new campaign

LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears got the season off to a good start Thursday night with a 42-36 win over Creighton.

The Lady Bears then played at home against Crofton Friday to take on the powerhouse Lady Warriors, falling 57-29 to the Warrior machine.

Kinsey Hall was a real force for the Lady Bears against Creighton, knocking down 21 points from the paint.

Hall also yanked down a teamhigh 10 rebounds to collect a doubledouble for the night.

Haley Christensen chipped in with an eight-point effort.

The game started off slowly, but the Orange and Black were able to gain an 8-5 scoring advantage after the first frame.

The LCC offense shook off the rust in the second frame to outscore the Bulldogs 17-11 and take a 25-16 lead into the break. Creighton rebounded in the second half to outscore the home team 20-17, but it was too little, too late as the Lady Bears held on for the six-point win.
