Fire Department fundraiser canceled; raffle to be held

OSMOND — Many Osmond residents may have noticed through a mailing from the Osmond Volunteer Fire Department that the annual fundraiser has been canceled because of pandemic restrictions.

The fundraiser was also canceled last year because of the flooding, with many patrons donating their time and finances to help flood victims.

Because of this, the organization’s fundraiser this year will be in the form of a raffle. This will be their only fundraiser this year.

The group’s fundraiser provides money for various training exercises and necessary equipment improvements. The fire department does not receive any tax dollars from the county for this purpose.

The fire department responds to all fires, assists with auto accidents and is on call for severe weather watch day and night. They are also a member of the 40-12 Mutual Aid Association, which provides assistance to surrounding towns.

Department officials noted that they are currently seeking new volunteer fire department members. Anyone interested in becoming a member is asked to contact Fire Chief Marty Kruse at (402) 649- 3998 or President Dennis Kuhl at (402) 640-4223.

The EMT squad is also in need of new members. Those interested in joining the squad should contact James Bessmer at (402) 841-8897, or Garret Kuhl at (402) 841-0970.

Donations to the fire department may be dropped off at the New Frontier Insurance Agency office or given to Joe Hoffman, treasurer.
