Tiger teams begin action this week

OSMOND — Opening competition for Osmond High School winter sports teams has begun, with jamboree basketball competition against Howells-Dodge held on Monday, Dec. 2.

Basketball Starts Friday

The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will travel to Randolph in the season openers on Friday. The two-quarter girls’ junior varsity contest begins at 4:45 p.m. as does the boys’ junior varsity three-quarter match-up. The varsity girls are slated to play at 6:15 p.m. with the varsity boys to square off at 8 p.m. The varsity games will be televised on News Channel Nebraska.

Returning letter winners for the girls’ team are Macy Aschoff, Grace Gansebom, Riley Wagner, Kiera Moes, Bailey Schmit, Elisa Herrera, Mary Kahny, Madeline Huwaldt and Hayle Krienert. The girls are co-coached by Terry Viterna and David Schmit.

Boys’ team returning letter winners are Keaton Timmerman, Justus Maertins, Aaron Chishiba and Graysen Schultze. Their coach is Todd Schulze, with Cory Lenton as assistant coach.

Wrestlers Open Saturday

The first wrestling meet of the season for the Tigers is Saturday, Dec. 7. The team will travel to Creighton for its annual invitational meet which begins at 10 a.m.

The wrestling letter winners returning for action this year are Alexis Solorzano, Bodie True, Hunter Beacom and Patrick Vinson. Their coach is Eli Neitzel, with assistant Kyle Schmit.
