Cedar County Elections information can be found at special website

COLERIDGE — Since the results of Tuesday’s election came in past the printing deadline for the Blade on Tuesday, results of the election will be found at a special website.

The site — www.CedarCountyElections.com — will feature results from
the LCC School Board, Coleridge Village Board, Cedar County and the race for the District 40 seat in the Nebraska Unicameral.

Results on the Nebraska statewide referendum on Medicare expansion and results for Governor, Congress and the U.S. Senate are also featured on the web page.

Prior to the election, County and State officials were predicting a big turn out.

Secretary of State John Gale said Monday that Nebraska has reached a new record number of registered voters, totaling 1,219,644. This exceeds the number from the previous record set at the 2016 General Election.

“Nebraskans have registered in higher numbers than we have ever seen, which is especially impressive for a mid-term election,” Gale said.

Aided by these new registration numbers, a voter turnout of 56% is anticipated.

In addition to the voter registration record, Nebraska voters also requested early ballots in record numbers for a midterm election.

As of Nov. 1, 213,791 voters requested to vote by mail, in person or reside in an all-mail precinct.

Early voting in election offices ended on November 5.

Gale was concerned Monday, however, that voters might get complacent, as 71,311 ballots issued had not yet been returned.

“As this is my final election that I will oversee as your Secretary of State, I have high hopes for record turnout,” said Gale, “But it all comes down to the voters.”
