Award created so students remember Thone’s legacy
HARTINGTON — Former Nebraska Gov. Charles Thone, who died last week at 94, was the perfect role model for today’s youth — a man of strong conviction and character.
He came off a Bow Valley area farm during the Depression, graduated from Hartington High School in 1940, then fought in World War II before going to college to complete his education.
