Work near Pierce begins next month

NORFOLK — Construction for the Pierce East levee bridge project will begin in the fall of this year and the planned detour is anticipated to begin Nov. 2. The bridge is located to the east of the City of Pierce over the North Fork of the Elkhorn River.

A detour would be required to facilitate bridge work, anticipated to begin in November 2020 and end in summer of 2021. The designated detour route would be provided utilizing U.S. Highway 81 (US-SI) and Nebraska Highway 13 (N-13). Access to adjacent properties would be maintained during construction, but may be limited at times because of phasing requirements. Access to Dixie Drive as well as the residential property located on the southeast comer of the bridge would be maintained.
