Wausa’s Smorgasbord falls victim to pandemic

WAUSA — The pandemic has claimed yet another victim.

The Smorgasbord committee had hoped to be able to hold Wausa’s annual Smorgasbord this October. Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent surge of cases nationally and locally, Committee members have decided to cancel it for 2021.

It would have been held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021.

“We are hopeful that we will be able to resume next year when the Smorgasbord is scheduled to be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022,” Committee members said. “Keep your eyes open for Smorgasbord updates in September 2022.”

In the meantime, anyone that is craving the tastes of Smorgasbord at home, can visit the Wausa Locker for Swedish meatballs, potato sausage, cold meats, herring, and cheeses.

Although it was mentioned during high school graduation, Committee members would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the recipients of the Smorgasbord scholarships for the class of 2021.

They are Cory Schumacher, Charlie Price, and Brooke Kumm. The Committee would like to congratulate the scholarship winners and wish them the best.

“Let’s look forward to next year as we, hopefully, move out of the pandemic and resume treasured traditions of our lives in this wonderful community.”
