Volunteers work to help make park improvements here

RANDOLPH —  A lot of work has recently been completed to improve the park here.

Park Clean Up Project Coordinator Dan Tunink said the work began on April 2 when a complete transit of the baseball field was done to locate high and low points of the field and to get it ready for adding lime to the field to keep it dry and playable in wet weather.

On April 4, several volunteers walked the park, picking up sticks and debris. Most of the debris was picked up that day, but some work still remained.

Volunteers on that clean-up duty were: Marvin Jensen, Derek and Audra Kuhl, Randy Beck, Joanna Rayford, Milo Rayford and Olivia Rayford, Walter Worlein, Penny Worlein,  Brayden Worlein, Kamdin Worlein, Declan Worlein, Caidynce Worlein and Dan Tunink.

On April 5 the sand in the slide/tunnel area was tilled up, raked and cleaned. The sand was then leveled off. More sticks and debris was picked up on the playground area and around the swimming pool area. The picnic shelter area was also cleaned out.

Volunteers on that clean-up day were: Bill Fye, Jami Fye, James Fye, AnnaLy Fye, Allyssa Fye, Ariel Fye, and Dan Tunink.

The tennis court area and basketball court were also cleaned up April 5 and the nets were tightened and repaired at the tennis court. Weeds were also cleaned out at the basketball court.

Volunteers on that clean-up project were: Jim Schnoor, Theresa Schnoor, Carter Schnoor, and Dan Tunink.

It was time to clean up the baseball field on April 6.

A new yardage sign was put up at the baseball field. Tree stumps were also marked so vehicles would not run into them.

Leave were also raked and the weeds were pulled. The grandstand area also got a good cleaning as dirt and debris was blown out of the bleacher area.

Alyssa Fye and Dan Tunink worked on this project.

On April 7 Marvin Jensen mowed up debris with a big mower and bagger. This project took about three hours.

Several other people also volunteered their time and supplies.

Mark Korth brought in four yards of dirt.

Scott Backhaus donated a load of pea gravel.

Marvin Jensen brought side by side and trailer, and his big mower/bagger.

Derek Kuhl brought an ATV and trailer to help with clean up, while Jim Schnoor brought a pickup and trailer and leaf blower to help with the clean up.

Tunink said the remaining projects are on hold until they get approval from the Park Board.
