Veterans Day activities are planned in Randolph

RANDOLPH — The annual Veterans Day Program is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 12 at the Randolph High School gym starting at 10 a.m. with U.S. Navy veteran Jerry Landkamer speaking.

Landkamer was attached to Fighter Squadron ONE at NAS Miramar, Calif. and served aboard the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War.

He is a third generation Legionnaire and an Honorary Life member of Norfolk Post 16, and a 44 year continuous member of The American Legion. He is also a member of The Sons of The American Legion and a Life Member of  the Veterans Foreign Wars.

Jerry has held numerous offices at Post, County, District and State level in The American Legion. He served as State Commander in 2006.

On the National level Jerry has served as a vice chairman on the National Americanism Council, a member of the The American Legion National Security Commission, the National Legislative Commission, National Veterans Employment and Education Commission, and currently serves on the National Security Commission. Jerry served the Nebraska AmericanLegion as National Executive Committeeman from 2012-2016. He is also endorsed by the Nebraska American Legion for the high office of National Vice Commander.

Jerry and his wife Starla have one son, Thomas, also members of The American Legion Auxiliary and The Sons of The American Legion respectively. Jerry is employed by Lou’s Thriftyway of Norfolk, and is member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Following the program the Randolph Senior Center is hosting their Veteran’s Day Luncheon. They are serving Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Assorted Salads, Assorted Pies and Coffee.

The meal will be $8 a plate.
