Veterans’ Day activities are planned in Wausa

WAUSA — Wausa’s Veterans Day program will be held at the Wausa High School Gym, Monday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m.

The program will begin with the High School Band leading the Advancement of Colors by the VFW and American Legion Color Guard.

Nov 11 at 11 a.m. is the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.  There were 116,516 Americans killed and over 200,000 wounded during the war.

Rev. Mark Habluetzel will provide the Invocation and Benediction, and will also bring the message: “Remembering Our Heroes”

This year’s presentation will include a music video that will honor the family Veteran heroes of elementary students.

The Voice of Democracy Winners will also be announced at Monday’s event.

The first place winner will receive $50 and the second place winner will receive $40. The first place essay will then be submitted to the VFW District #3 contest. The theme for this years essay was: Why My Vote Matters.

Veterans in attendance will be recognized. There will be musical selections by the Wausa students. The program will conclude with “Taps” and the Retiring of the Colors.

Baked Ham lunch will be served at the school for Veterans and their wives after the program.
