Seven month renovation project is finally completed

WAUSA — Construction started on Wausa Medical Clinic the beginning of March.

It was decided the best way to do the remodel was to split the building in half to enable the doctor and staff to continue to see patients out of the half that was not being worked on.

This was a major overhaul as the whole building was gutted down to the studs allowing for a change in the layout.

The change in the layout allowed for three mirroring exam rooms down the same hallway. The location of the nurse’s lab was also changed, moving it to what used to be the x-ray room.

The old reception area is now the new waiting room and the old scale area is now where the receptionist is located.

“I can speak for all of us when saying how much we all love the open feeling these changes have created,” said Heidi Haberer of the Wausa Medical Clinic.

Everything is new from the inside following through to the exterior of the building, including furniture and exam tables all the way down to new blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes.

“Our favorite parts of the building are the modern feel and the new layout,” Haberer said.

As the world knows, Covid struck around the middle of March which slowed up the process for reasons out of everyone’s control.

“(This was) a time that we will all remember, as quarters were tight for a little longer than expected, but we knew what the end result would be and we knew without a doubt it would be well worth the wait. It turned out beautifully.” Haberer said.

Those working on the project included: CM Builders LLC, Clausen Concrete Co., Pat & Vickie Clausen, Carlson Home & Auto, Bloomquist Plumbing & Heating, KV Electric, Michael Nipp & Seth Foner from Great Plains Communications, Wausa Village Employees Kenny & Matt Bloomquist.

The clinic also stored some items at the Wausa Firehall during the renovation and appreciates the help of the fire department.

Haberer said the clinic and staff appreciate all the efforts of these people and of all the “understanding patients who have had patience with us throughout the process. We appreciate you all. Please be on the lookout for an open house date and time.”
