Three answer the call and file for Wausa village board positions

CENTER – Three non-incumbent candidates are running for the Wausa Village Board of Trustees in the Nov. 8 general election.

Chris “Chip” Ferdig, Robert “Bob” Marks and Nicholas “Nick” Morgan have filed to run for a seat on the village board.

Incumbent village board members Jess Barta, Mike Burns and Bill Schumacher did not run for re-election.

Their three positions are up for election in 2022, while the terms of incumbents Cheryl Marks and Ron Nelson run through 2024.

Four candidates have filed so far to run for the Lincoln Township Board: Incumbents Chris Carlson and Timothy Johnson, as well as non-incumbents Steve Kumm and Tyler Moes.

Incumbent Rowan Nelson did not file for one of the three township board positions that will be on the November ballot.

In Magnet, incumbent village board member Miriam Albrecht has filed for re-election, while fellow incumbent Dennis Schmuecker did not.

New Magnet candidate Chris Albrecht also is seeking votes to be placed on the village board.

The top two vote-getters in the general election will be elected to the Magnet village board.

The terms for village and township board members are four years each. Non-incumbents have until 5 p.m. Aug. 1 to file for these races.

The Knox County Clerk’s Office in Center and the Cedar County Clerk’s Office in Hartington will be open until 5 p.m. Aug. 1 to accommodate non-incumbents wishing to file for village and township boards.

As a reminder, no write-in votes will be counted unless a person has filed a writein affidavit and is eligible for the race he or she has filed for.

If people have any questions, they are asked to call Knox County Clerk Joann Fischer at 402-288-5604 or Cedar County Clerk Dave Dowling at 402-254-7411.
