Surveys are now underway in Laurel

LAUREL  —  Community residents now have the opportunity to make their opinions known.  A Community-wide Planning Program for the City of Laurel, including an updated Comprehensive Plan and new Community Housing Study, is being conducted with the guidance of the Laurel Planning Commission and the Laurel Economic Development Office.  Hanna-Keelan Associates, a Nebraska-based community planning and research consulting  firm, is managing the Program.

The Study is funded by a Housing Grant provided by the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, with matching funds from the City of Laurel.

This Planning Program includes the implementation of both a “Citizen Survey” and a “Workforce Housing Needs Survey”.

The “Citizen’s Survey” will highlight important community, economic and housing development activities to be undertaken during the next 10 years.

The “Workforce Housing Needs Survey” will be included in the mailing, and will ask local businesses and employees for their input on how their employment correlates with their choices of housing.

Both surveys will be mailed out to everyone in the 68745 zip-code.

All Laurel citizens, in town and rural, are encouraged to participate.

The “Citizen’s Survey” and “Workforce Housing Needs Survey” will be made available on the www.laurelne.com website, and the Laurel, NE Facebook page. Hard copies will also be made available at local locations that include Gary’s Foodtown, Main Street Apothecary, Hansen Brothers Parts & Service, Laurel True Value- ACE Hardware and the Laurel City Offices,

There will be a drawing for two $50 Laurel Chamber Bucks on Friday, March 20 for all fully completed surveys.

All Surveys are to be completed and returned to Laurel City Economic Development Office by Friday, March 20, 2020.  If you have any questions, please call Laurel Economic Development Office at 402-256-9614.
