Summer Youth gets green light

OSMOND — The Osmond City Council had an emergency meeting Thursday morning, May 21, and gave Osmond Summer Youth the green light to play baseball and softball this summer. Practice only will be held June 1-17, and games will begin June 18.

All parents have to sign liability release waivers specific to COVID-19 and there are many many new rules that must be enforced. The main new rule is that only household members are allowed to watch games. No one else is allowed. This is a state rule.

Other rules include: no concessions; players must bring their own gloves, helmets, masks (if using) and bats if possible; no use of bleachers for fans, they must bring chairs and keep six feet apart; no post-game handshakes; players must bring their own water or beverage and their own snacks.

Also, Osmond Summer Youth is refurbishing the batting cage. It is receiving new netting, the building and doors are being fixed, and there will be a new pitching machine and balls. This is possible with help of the donation Osmond Summer Youth Committee received from the school last year.
