Sight set on Wausa, new business opens downtown

WAUSA — Feidler Eye Clinic has its eyes on the future and has set its sights on Wausa.

The community caught the eye of Dr. Ann Feidler-Klein and her business partners at Feidler Eye Clinic in Norfolk for expansion, opening a satellite clinic here earlier this month.

“The doctors jokingly say it’s because they wanted a good excuse to go to Wausa to eat the good pizza,” she said with a laugh, referring to Bill’s Place, across the street from their new location at 500 E. Broadway.

Family owned for 54 years, Feidler Eye Clinic began with Ann’s father, Dr. Herbert Feidler. Ann, and her husband Jeff Klein joined him, and the business continues to grow.

Their main clinic is in western Norfolk. The Wausa location, which opened Jan. 5, is their only other location. Pizza aside, Wausa was a good location for a satellite clinic to

Pizza aside, Wausa was a good location for a satellite clinic to make Feidler’s services more easily accessible to more of Northeast Nebraskans. It helps, too, that “it is a very nice town with great people,” Ann said.

The new business exists in the west half of the Eldorado Heating building and renovations included new flooring, paint, wall coverings and a remodel of the bathroom. The new space includes an exam room, contact lens room and optical boutique.

Dr. Jeff Klein was the one with a vision when it came to the remodel, completing most of the work himself.

“You may have seen him working late there on the weekends,” she said.

The new clinic offers complete eye health exams, fitting of contact lenses and glasses, focusing on utilizing the newest technology and very latest lenses available in the United States.

The optical boutique provides a wide range of eyeglass frames and sunglasses for everyone, including children. Feidler’s offer many different price points so that customers can find a style that fits their face but also their budget.

Dr. Jackson Kube will be seeing patients at the clinic along with one patient coordinator.

The Wausa clinic will be open every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Customers can call for appointments at 402-371-8535.

Ann said there are no plans to expand to other communities, however, they are undergoing an expansion of their current Norfolk location. The work is expected to finish this summer.
